To ease my way into today's topic, here's a scenario. Imagine you're at a KFC restaurant waiting on your order. The delicious aroma of the chicken slowly filling the air, your stomach growls with hunger! You eagerly anticipate your first crunch, but despite the mouthwatering aroma, your meal isn't quite ready. Everyone else's order is already up, even for some people that arrived after you and the longer you wait, the more intense the craving becomes. You feel yourself start racing; "Will your turn ever come?"
Take Away
This feeling is metaphoric to waiting on your dreams, your blessings, your desires, your turn. The vision is clear, the anticipation is real, but it sometimes feels like everyone is getting theirs but yours is 'just out of reach'. This is more common than you think. Most people if not all feel stagnant or are discontent with their current lifestyle because they are ready for more. I'm sure we know that there will come a point in everyone's life where they need to pivot, in order to progress.
What's Meant for You
Just like at the restaurant, you know your order is coming. I'm sure you do, right? You know at times it does feel as though you're crazy. However, it's those closest to you that look down on you, they look at you like: "How dare she?!", "Who does she think she is?!". They try to extinguish your desires before it becomes a threat.
1. Stop venting to people let alone the wrong people
Pour your heart out to God instead. Let He be the one to validate you, to nurture and feed your dreams or maybe disapprove because He truly knows best. Write it all down everything you desire to achieve and the impact you want to make. Ask yourself honestly: What do I want out of this life? Not just the material things, but the deeper, lasting meaning.
What is that one thing you could do that, if today were your last day, would make you feel like you truly left something behind?
Write it down. Lay it before God. Surrender it to Him, and allow Him to guide you, shape it, and help you walk it out.
2. Dream Big, it's okay
It's okay to dream big to cast all you yearn for, He's not on a budget. I'm talking about your purpose, your breakthrough. Listen to this incredible sermon by Pastor Myles Munroe. What God has for you will not surpass you. What He can't do does not exist!
3. Get to work
Sometimes we feel like our prayers are ignored but, we're idle. We are not giving God anything to work with. You feel stuck, maybe because you haven't moved, ventured on anything yet you await for this miraculous rescue. I don't think it works like that made.
Scriptures to meditate on:
- Psalm 20:7; 37:23
- Isaiah 43:18-19
- Proverbs 3:5-6
- Habakkuk 2:3
- Galatians 6:9
- Luke 1:37
A friend’s post reminded me to trust in everything God has declared over my life. He is not man, that He should lie or change His mind He is always true to His Word. What He has spoken, He will bring to pass in His perfect timing.
There’s an analogy a dear lady shared with me that beautifully captures this. Imagine driving at night: your car’s headlights only show you a small portion of the road ahead. You can’t see what’s further down, what’s behind you, or what surrounds you beyond that light but you keep driving, trusting that the light will lead you to your destination.
That’s what our walk with Christ is like. We only see a fraction of the journey, while God sees the entire map the full picture from beginning to end (Isaiah 55:8). Our role is not to have all the answers, but to trust that He is guiding us, step by step, and that He will keep us along the way.
